They both look really cool however there's definitely one better-looking starter and that spot goes to Charmander. The first few gyms in the Kanto region are quite difficult for Charmander to manage. This is definitely something that drives players to choose Squirtle instead of Charmander because nobody wants a grind in the beginning. Players should keep this in mind the next time they play through one of the generation 1 games because it's definitely a factor worth considering.
Picking Squirtle will make beating Brock and Misty a breeze! The shiny form for Charmander and all of its evolutions is so much better than Squirtle. Its final evolution shiny form is black and that is a major upgrade from the boring looking Orange color.
